A teenage boy stabbed in the head at his Queens high school was attacked by at least three knife-wielding teens, two of whom he wounded while defending himself, a law enforcement source told the Daily News on Friday.
The 16-year-old victim was attacked inside Long Island City High School on Broadway near 21st St. in Astoria at 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, cops said.
The victim managed to disarm one of his assailants amid the fracas, turning the knife against his opponents and slashing two of his attackers, the source said.
The violence spurred administrators to place the school into a “soft lockdown” and school safety agents rushed to break up the bloody knife fight, said DOE spokeswoman Jenna Lyle, who condemned the school hall violence.
“Violence has absolutely no place in our schools, and this behavior is unacceptable,” said Lyle.
Medics rushed the victim to Elmhurst Hospital Center in stable condition, cops said.
Police held two 16-year-old boys for questioning after the attack, police said.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested for assault and criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.
The NYC Department of Education pledged to increase security at the Queens high school in the wake of Thursday’s assault and will offer trauma counseling to students impacted by the assault, Lyle said.
